HOW I STUDIED FOR THE DENTAL ADMISSION TEST
Shortly after I shadowed a few dentists and fell in love with the field, I began to study for the DAT. I knew it would be a long and laborious task, so I wanted to get started ASAP. Mind you, I began studying about 6 months post-graduation, so I had a lot of material to review.
I started my studies in early September to prepare for the December test. This website notes the available test dates month in advance. I wold suggest picking a general time you want to take the test, then scheduling it as soon as you can. This will both force you to stick to your deadlines and ensure that you get the date you have in mind.
After picking a test date for mid-December, the test preparation began. I started studying eight hours a day, five days a week. Each day, I would study four subjects in two hour increments. If there was material that did not come naturally to me, I would spend the next allotted time for that subject reviewing the information until I comprehended it.
On the day of the test, I had put in over 130 hours of studying and taking practice tests before the actual DAT. I went into the test feeling confident and ready to dominate.

Why did you take the test in december?
According to the ADA, you must wait a 90 day period before you can retake the test. I felt that if I were not satisfied with the December test scores, I could take it again in March and still have time to submit my primary applications that summer.
Where can you find the dat logistics?
This website takes you to the 2017 DAT Program Guide. You will be required to read this document before taking the test.
